Jacob Siegel served as managing editor of the Chicago edition of the Jewish Daily Forward and was active in Jewish labor organizations such as the Workmen's Circle. After the Jewish Labor Committee (JLC) formed in New York City in 1934, Jacob Siegel chaired the Chicago branch of the national organization.
